Team Salaries: Brewers 25th (out of 30) and leading the NL

I just wrote a whole blog on NFL players and pension issues and deleted the entire thing. I couldn't make any clear concise points on the matter. Basically I side with both the players and the NFL.
I am busy packing to leave the district. I will miss the place and enjoyed the time I had here. It's off to a new adventure now. A month off, a job in NYC, studying for the GRE's. SIGH
I have to say that the Chi-Sox are really quite embarrasing right now. I am not a fan (Cubbies 2nd Brewers first) but the team was looking a little droopy over the weekend vs. the Cubs (I LOVE getting WGN out here on the east coast).

Another random thing...Why should I cheer for the Yankees? Page 2 recently did an article on why the Yankees are the underdogs. What? Yes, perhaps the underdogs to Boston but look at how much their payroll is vs the Brewers (198,662,180 vs. 50,540,000). Jim Caple believes people are, and I quote, "spreading the myth that "small market" teams are at a disadvantage." Umm yep they are, at a disadvantage not a myth. The Brewers have been called on occasion "the farming team for the Yankees." Perhaps he should explain why the Brewers haven't HAD a post season since 1982 and the Yankees haven't MISSED a post season since 1995. But of course those "small market" teams are at no disadvantage.

So you are probably saying why are the Brewers leading the NL if they are at such a disadvantage? A young team with a few high paid players and a few of which we won't be able to afford after this season? J.J. Hardy played some high school baseball and came back from multiple injuries to have a great season thus far, we've known (in Milwaukee at least) that Prince Fielder would emerge to be good, Corey Hart? who knew?. Our biggest money? Ben Sheets and Geoff Jenkins. It has only been in the past two years or so that we have really been spending money. So I have a hard time believeing that this "small market" team is a myth, I really do.
